This homeowner had a lot going on - an aging roof, existing solar panels, and a plastic gutter system that had run its course. Most contractors would either skip the details or hand off parts of the job to someone else. We handled everything ourselves, start to finish.
The new roof is IKO Nordic in Brownstone - a Class 4 impact-resistant shingle. In Central Texas, that rating matters. Hail storms here can do serious damage, and a Class 4 rating means this roof is built to take a hit without failing. It also tends to qualify homeowners for insurance discounts, which is a real, tangible benefit beyond just the durability piece.
The solar panels had to come off before we could roof, and they had to go back on correctly afterward. That's the solar detach and reset process, and it's not something you want a crew doing for the first time on your home. We've done it enough to know where things go wrong and how to make sure they don't.
We also pulled out the old plastic gutters and replaced them with a full seamless system. Plastic gutters sag, crack, and pull away from the fascia over time. Seamless gutters are cut to fit the exact length of each run, so there are fewer joints where leaks can start. It's a cleaner look and a more reliable system.
When you're already doing a roof, it's the right time to deal with the gutters too. The whole exterior drainage system gets attention at once, and you're not paying for mobilization twice. That's the kind of thinking we bring to every job.
