This one had a lot going on. The home had both a pitched shingle roof and a flat roof section - two completely different systems that both needed to be replaced. That's not unusual for older Texas homes, but it does require a crew that knows how to handle each system properly. We do both, so it was a natural fit.
We went with IKO Dual Black shingles for the pitched sections. It's a sharp, clean color that holds up well in the Texas heat and gives the home a bold, finished look. But the shingles were only part of the story here. The roof deck underneath had deteriorated enough that we pulled it and replaced it entirely before anything else went down. That's the step a lot of contractors skip - and it's the one that matters most.
Replacing the deck isn't glamorous work, but it's what separates a roof that lasts from one that causes problems a few years down the road. When the decking is soft, warped, or rotted, you're essentially putting a new roof on a bad foundation. We don't do that. The new shingles go down on solid, clean OSB - the way it should be done.
The flat section got the same level of attention. Flat roofs are their own challenge. They need to be installed tight, with no seams lifting and proper drainage planned out. Done right, a flat roof is low-maintenance and dependable. Done wrong, it becomes a recurring headache. This homeowner got it done right.
The end result is a roof that's solid from the deck up - not just a fresh layer on top of old problems. That's what real peace of mind looks like. If your roof is aging out or you've got a mix of systems that need attention, we're the crew for it.
